COMPETITIONS

Fiber to Fashion 2007

Leisure Class: Bring a loom warped with handspun yarn and spinning wheels and weft fibers, which can be prepared for spinning. Display fiber samples and information so observers can discover and learn about your project. There are no time, size or result limitations, so be creative. The sky’s the limit.

Chairs will be provided to participants. We encourage use of natural fibers from Texas, New Mexico and Colorado. Oklahoma and Louisiana fiber is also welcome. If the fiber is from a team members' animals, all the better.

Please send completed entry form before Oct. 15, 2007, to Ruth Davis, 347 Woodland Drive, Fredericksburg, TX 78624. Additional information from Ruth Davis. caru@mailbug. com.

Sage McKenzie Memorial Skein Contest 2007

Skeins may be any length and weight, tied appropriately with self yarn. The skeins will be judged on spinning, plying, and hand.

There will be three cash prizes:

  • first place     $25
  • second place     $20
  • third place     $15

All skeins must be of all natural fibers. Entries will be accepted until noon Saturday, with judging to follow. Skeins may be picked up at 5:00 Saturday. The festival will make every effort to display and care for the entered pieces, but assumes no responsibility for damage or loss.
